About Doula du NordWelcome!

I began my work in the birth world as a postpartum doula in 2016 after completing a DONA postpartum doula training. When I first started to learn more about postpartum doulas, I had two thoughts. I wished that I had known about this kind of support when my daughter was born! And I thought “Wow, that is the perfect job for me!” Since I was a child, I have loved helping others. I have always been drawn to working with children and families. My job experience includes working in child care centers, preschools, and as a nanny.  After having my own daughter, I realized how important it is to be supported during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Working with newly postpartum families and newborn babies taught me so much and opened my eyes to other ways of supporting families during their pregnancy and postpartum. In the spring of 2018, I completed a course to become a certified lactation educator counselor (CLEC) through the University of California San Diego. In June of 2018, I took another DONA training to become a birth doula! Supporting families and helping them to feel supported, educated, and empowered about their pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and feeding experiences is one of my passions!

I am especially drawn to supporting strong attachment and bonding between parents and their new baby, as well as pregnancy/postpartum mental and emotional health. I am also interested in supporting families who have experienced trauma, especially sexual trauma, and helping them navigate the extra layers that this may add to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

“Before having my baby, hiring a postpartum doula was a new concept to me. I wasn’t sure I needed one, yet with my husband’s short leave from work and out of state extended family, we decided to hire Chelsey.
Post-baby, the need for a postpartum doula became apparent. Chelsey was available to do laundry and dishes or fix my lunch, giving me time to bond with my baby. She took care of the essentials of the house so that I could focus on baby related tasks like breastfeeding, changing diapers, and sleep.
When you’re physically healing and navigating life with a newborn, you don’t want just anyone in your home. Chelsey is friendly, knowledgeable, and dependable. I highly recommend hiring her as your postpartum doula!”

“Chelsey’s service is exactly what we needed as new parents to help us settle into our new lives together with our baby and not worry as much about the stresses of daily family life. She had our backs!”
